This violin was inspired by a 1921 patent issued to Frank Merwin Ashley. The top and back are constructed of thin bent plates as opposed to carved plates. It is a cornerless violin that has varying rib heights from 31mm to 45mm. It has a 14 1/2" body length but has a standard violin string length. The extra body volume has resulted in a very full C without sacrificing the E string.

The back and sides are quilted maple and the top is a fine grained Port Orford Cedar. The maple neck has a Florentine scroll and a carved and gold leaf fleur de lis. The tailpiece is a hand carved fleur de lis made from Bois de Rose, as is the finger board.
