The "Freedom Fiddle"

This is a hand carved four string electric violin. The body shape is my original electric violin design, but this one was made with a Port Orford Cedar top and a sound post, so it does have some acoustic qualities. The back and sides are made of primo Quilted Maple. Parts of the top, back, sides, and scroll were hand carved and then the feathers were wood burned. countless hours went into the making of this violin.

The finger board, tail piece, pegs, and button were all hand carved from black palm, which I thought had a nice resemblance to feathers.

The pick up was made for me by Rich Barbera at Barbera Transducer Systems
